OPEC Systems is an Australian-owned Registered Training Organisation (RTO 41595). We established OPEC College in 2019 to focus on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for public and private sector customers including if you have just left the Defence Force, Police Force or other First Responder organisations. OPEC College also offers study options for customers who are unable to immediately achieve RPL.

OPEC College

David Kirkby, General Manager

David spent twenty years in the Australian Army, as Combat Engineer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Manager and as a Warrant Officer Class 2, working at the School of Military Engineering as the Wing Sergeant Major.

Upon leaving Defence, David ran a Learning Development and Training Company, delivering EOD and other Public Sector courses, as well as Health and Safety. David then taught with Queensland TAFE, Brisbane North Institute and then went on to become Chief Executive Officer of a Registered Training Organisation.

David started at OPEC Systems in 2017 to work in Senior Management across Human Resources, Training and Change Management but also to build OPEC College. OPEC Systems has six Divisions working broadly and deeply across multiple sectors both in Australia and overseas, providing David with access to up-to-date information on what is happening in industry. He believes that this ‘finger on the pulse’ capability provides OPEC College with the edge on standalone RTOs.

Thank you so much for your support and assistance throughout this journey. I am going to miss the intellectual challenges and catch up chats we had that these units provided me. This is a qualification course that I have wanted to do for a long time but life happened instead, and now you and your team have helped me achieve it.
